The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 12, 1978, p. 16 JAMES BURNS James Joseph Burns, 70 former manager of the Western gardens Apartments here, died last Saturday in the Wickenburg Community Hospital. He was born in New York and came here 11 years ago. He was active in the Lions Club, Park Board, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Choir, and St. Vincent de Paul. He enjoyed entertaining at the Wise Owl Center and at Anthony’s Nursing Home. Surviving are his widow, Ruth Eleanor; three sons, Raymond F., of New Jersey, the Rev. James M. Burns of Pinetop, and Donald W. Burns of Connecticut; four daughters, Beverly M. Oquist of Glendale; Patricia M. Guido of New York; Paula R. Williams, of Milford, Conn., and Rosemary L. Peterson of Wickenburg; a brother, a sister, and 17 grandchildren. Rosary services were Tuesday evening in the Wickenburg Funeral Home and a Mass was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, offered by his son, the Rev. Mr. Burns, with Bishop Jerome J. Hastrich of Gallup and the Rev Thomas Boyle of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and other priests assisting.
