COLE, Donald Orlien


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 01/04/2005 Donald Orlien Cole, 88, of Payson died Dec. 26, 2004 in Payson. He was born Aug. 16, 1918 to Albert and Johannah (Loe) Cole of Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Mr. Cole was baptized in Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church and confirmed there May 28, 1933. He attended country school. He married Oriet Just May 26, 1940 in St. John's and served on the church council as a trustee, and as an elder on St. John's school board. He was also a member of St. John's Men's Club. The Coles farmed their lifetime in Minnesota, first at Evansville and then moved to Wood Lake in 1943. They purchased a farm north of town in 1947 and lived there until 1994 when they moved to Payson. Mr. Cole became a member of Rock of Ages Ev. Lutheran Church in Payson. He is survived by his wife, Oriet; four sons David and Marilyn of Rochester, Minnesota, Orrin and Linda of Canby, Minnesota, Wayne of Cibecue, and Stanley and Carol of Federal Way, Washington; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother Virgil; four sisters, Jeverna Ardell Kathleen and Edith; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Curtis, LeVern and Arvid; and daughter-in-law Flora. A visitation was held Dec. 30 followed by a funeral service at the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 204 W. Airport Road. Interment will be at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park in Payson. Arrangements were handled by Messinger Payson Funeral Home.
