The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 01/07/2005 Alison Frances Gooch, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside. She was born in Wegatchie, New York Nov. 19, 1916, to Charles Fredrick Manning and Jenette Mae Murphy Manning. Alison was employed by New York Telephone Co. in Gouverneur, New York and Mountain Bell in Phoenix, Arizona for 24 years, until 1960. She was past-president of the Women's Club in Evergreen, Colorado. A member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Colorado, charter member of the Jefferson County Historical Society of Evergreen, director of the Evergreen High School Scholarship Fund of Colorado, member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and a member of the Show Low Hospital Auxiliary. Alison is survived by her daughter, Sally Bartley of Cochise; son, Jim Gooch of Vero Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Eleanor Jones of Newark, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her husband, I. Fred Gooch, and her daughter, Janice Fernau. A Celebration of Life was held Thursday Jan. 6, 2005 at the White Mountain United Methodist Church in Show Low. Contributions may be made to RTA Hospice and Palliative Care, 1789 W.
