The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, December 11, 2003 Lillie G. Gillham-Johnson, born in Merit, TX September 14, 1910, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on December 7, 2003. She is preceded in death in 1966 by Rev. T.M. Gillham, her husband for 38 years, and in 1991, her husband for 22 years, Leon Johnson. She is survived by son, Frank (Ann) Gillham, Dallas TX, daughter Sue (Bobby) Pennington of Tucson, son Dick (Peggy) Johnson, Whittier, CA, son Jim (Nelda) Johnson, Hacienda Heights, CA, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great-grandson. She was a graduate of Grand Canyon University. Lillie was a dedicated teacher, teaching in public schools in Texas and Arizona, and at the University level at Grand Canyon University and Riverside Baptist College, Riverside, CA. She was a partner with her missionary husband in helping establish over 50 Southern Baptist Churches in Arizona and was a master Bible Teacher. She and her husband, Leon, enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Tucson for 34 years. Her life touched the lives of many people and her death leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family and her many friends. She will be greatly missed but her family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace in God's arms. The family expresses gratitude to Rev. David Wallace, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, for his kind care during the long days of mom's declining health. Appreciation is also expressed to the staff at Epoch Assisted Living for three and one-half years of excellent care and to Lorena for her compassionate care in the final days of our mother's life. Friends may call at Adair Funeral Home, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., at Speedway, on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 from 5-7 pm. Funeral service will be held at Adair Funeral Home, Dodge Chapel, on Thursday, December 11 at 10 am. Private interment to follow in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
