BETHEA, Joan Layton

Bethea, Joan Layton Joan Layton Bethea, 58. passed away peacefully in her home among family on the morning of Sunday, December 14, 2003. The second of four children, Joan was born on June 23, 1945 in Safford, AZ to LeRoy Layton and Roberta Nash. Joan graduated from Mesa High School and received her Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University. She married S. Daryl Bethea (Pai) on June 26, 1965 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. Affectionately, referred to as "Cute Joanie" by her family, she enjoyed spending time with PAI, caring for her children and grandchildren and serving in her church. She was preceded in death by her father, and survived by her husband, J. Daryl Bethea; Children: John Darryl, Derek, Kaylynn Sorenson, Jason, Sean Michelle, Monique, Rebecca Nelson, and Justin; mother, Roberta Layton; brothers: Robert LeRoy Layton and Keith Nash Layton; Sister, Kaye Layton Anderson; and sixteen grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the Mesa South Stake Center, 1415 a Southern Ave., with a visitation at 8:30 AM. Interment at City of Mesa Cemetery. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements. Published in the Arizona Republic on 12/16/2003.
