Jarolimek Sr., Joseph J.
Joseph J. Jarolimek Sr., age 102, died peacefully in his home in Phoenix, Arizona, December 8, 2003. He was born September 8, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. He moved to Phoenix in 1947 with his wife Bessie - Jarolimek and worked at Reynolds Aluminum before going into business as "Bess and Joe's Fish and Chips", and later Osborn Drive Inn. He was an accomplished musician. His work included playing in and leading many big bands of the era. He also played with local bands of the 50's and 60's. He was a member emeritus of the Scottsdale Symphony Board. Joe was a 71-year member of the Berwyn Illinois Masonic Lodge #839 and also a member of the Masonic Lodge Montezuma #35. His other memberships include the El Zaribah Shrine, El Zaribah Temple Guard, Scottish Rite of Phoenix, Laurel Chapter #30, O.E.S., Loyal Order of Moose and lifetime member since 1917 of the Chicago Federation of Musicians. Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Bessie R. Jarolimek. His daughter, Loretta F. O'Malley and sons, Joseph J. Jarolimek Jr. and Lee R. Jarolimek, survive him. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2003 from 6-8 P.M. at Green Acres Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2003 at 1 P.M. at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, with graveside services to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to Montezuma Lodge #35 Charities, 345 W. Monroe, Phoenix, AZ, 85003.
