Kish, John E.
John E. Kish, 85, a retired Chief Petty Officer & World War II Veteran, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2003, at the Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ. He was born March 25, 1918 in Hammond, Indiana. John served on many submarines & non submarines and earned several medals: National Defense service medal, World War II, American Theatre, & Asiatic Pacific. John served 30 years in the United States Navy. He was also a Ham operator, which he started in New London, CT, and joined the Ham radio club on the Navel Submarine base in Groton, CT. Preceded in death by his wife Helen C. Kish, parents; Andrew & Anna Kish, formerly of Hammond, Indiana; brothers Andrew, Sr., George, Harry, Daniel, Robert; sisters Mary Silaghi, RoseAnn Smith, and Mickey Kahler. He is survived by 1 daughter Orlenca C. Wilson, of Norfolk, VA; 1 sister Margaret Kish, of Phoenix; 1 brother Richard Kish, of Tempe; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, of North Carolina, and many nieces & nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM, with Funeral Services at 11:00AM, Friday, December 12, 2003, at Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd. Military Honors will be held December 18, 2003, at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
