George Popin, 69, passed away on December 10, 2003. He was born in Tohawanda, NY on February 22, 1934 and moved to Mesa in 1947. Burial services will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at 2PM at Mt. View Memorial Gardens. George, a Mesa High graduate, was employed as a builder of laminate cabinets. Singing in the church choir, photography, ham radio, and volunteering at the Senior Center were his interests along with traveling and socializing with friends at Mesa East. George was preceded in death by his mother, Cviyata Kokanovich Popin, and his wife, Betty Vail Popin. He is survived by his father, Edward Popin; Sisters: Joanne Clapham and Mich- elle La Pointe; Nephews: Peter & Nicholas Clapham, and Erik La Pointe; Niece, Alexander La Pointe; Great Nephew, Silas Clapham; and great niece, Sydney Clapham. Meldrum Mortuary handled arrangements.
