Patricia "Pat" Lavin, age 71, of Mesa AZ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family December 14, 2003 after a short illness. She was born in Grand Forks ND on February 17, 1932, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Irene Carey.
 She attended St Michael's Catholic school and later graduated from St. James Academy. She married Gerald Lavin on November 8, 1951 at St Michael's Church in Grand Forks ND. They farmed near Hatton ND until retiring to Mesa AZ in 1997. She is survived by her husband Gerald, daughters: Patty Lavin (Tom Van Hook), Mary Irene Amiot (Curt), Colleen Wilson (Randy), Therese Alme (Jeff), sons: Tom, Mike, John (Vickie), Dick and Jim. She is also survived by her brother Father Richard Carey and sisters Janice Buus (Bob) and Mary Irene Marthaler, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great grand child. The visitation will be held Wednesday December 17th at Melcher Funeral Home (6625 Main St) from 6-8pm with a rosary recitation at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church (1534 North Recker Rd) Mesa at 10:00 AM Thursday December 18th.
