McCabe, Henry Arthur "Art"
Henry Arthur "Art" McCabe died December 15, at age 72. A native of Brooklyn, he was Chief Lifeguard at Coney Island while attending St. John's University. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics he served in the Army at Fort Huachuca. Art returned to Arizona in 1961 to continue a 30-year career as a Software Development Manager in the Computer Department of General Electric/ Honeywell/Bull. In the late 1970's he transferred to the company's headquarters in Minneapolis where he also taught at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas. In addition to mentoring, Art enjoyed following politics and sports, especially baseball, and perusing the New York Times trying to complete the crossword puzzle faster than his wife. Art is survived by his wife Mary Williamson McCabe who was also in Software Development at GE/HIS/Bull. His surviving children are Patrick, Anne Nepsky (Craig), Kevin (Penny), Cathleen Keeney (Joseph) and John (Charlotte). He was preceded in death by his son Michael. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Nathan and Patrick Nepsky; Kenny, Sarah, Eleanor and Charlotte McCabe; Miles, Anne and Clare Keeney. Services will be held Monday, December 22, at 10AM at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Drive in Paradise Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in his name to the Christ Church Memorial Fund or to the American Heart Association.
