Lauretta (Jeanne) Thomas, 66, died December 9, 2003 in Glendale, AZ. She was born March 8, 1937 in Brawley, CA to Leslie and Edna Hartnett.
She was an incredibly talented musician and athlete, right out of college she was offered a seat playing the oboe in the Phoenix Symphony she also played the organ, drums and accordian.
She was a very accomplished golfer and in 1955 she was the Arizona Intercollegiate Table Tennis Champ. Jeanne, as she liked to be called, was very talented with a knitting and crochet needle as well, winning numerous ribbons at the Maricopa County and Arizona State Fairs, plus making baby blankets for all her friends and family upon hearing the news that anyone was expecting.
She also gave her time generously to her children by being a cub scout den mother and home room mother for their schools as well as typing brail books for blind children. She worked for the City of Phoenix for 25 years most of them as a Phoenix Police Radio Dispatcher.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Curtis M. Thomas Jr., sons; Curtis M. Thomas III and Scott Allen Thomas, daughter Leslie Elizabeth Smith, brother, Leslie Hartnett, sisters; Ailene Lee and Lee Lee, and 2 grandsons Beno Lars Thomas and Max Adrian Thomas.
Memorial service will be held Monday, December 15 2003, 11:00 A.M. at Hansen Mortuary 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix. AZ.
