Tweedy, Mary G. Mary G. Tweedy. They needed an English teacher in heaven. Mary G. Tweedy, wife of the late George Tweedy, passed away on December 6, 2003 in Winter Park, Florida after a lengthy illness. Mary had an extensive teaching career which began in Detroit, Michigan after receiving a Masters Degree in education at Wayne University. She went on to teach in Venezuela, S.A. and Saudi Arabia before coming to Phoenix where she was head of the English Department at Alhambra High School. After moving to Paradise Valley, she transferred to Camelback High where she retired from a long and fulfilling career. Mary is survived by her two sisters, Elena McGowan of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Margery Prince of Orlando, Florida. Published in the Arizona Republic on 12/14/2003.
