KOHLER, Gerald L. (Jerry)

Kohler, Gerald L. "Jerry" Gerald L. (Jerry) Kohler, 80, of Waddell, AZ died Thursday, December 18, 2003. A native of Beaumont, TX he has resided in Arizona for 14 years. He was a WW II veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received at Tarawa. Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Verna. His six children, sons David Kohler and wife Ruth of Avondale, AZ, Pete Kohler and wife Beverly of Lumberton, TX, Chris Kohler and wife Sherrye of Beaumont, TX. Daughters Charlotte Molley of Orange, TX and Margaret Wilson and husband Rick of Houston, TX and Elizabeth Harvey and husband Kim of Alvin, TX. 24 grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren also survive. A funeral mass was held Monday, 12-22-03 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Avondale, AZ. Burial was held at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona with full military honors. Donations are suggested to Hospice of the Valley, Sun City Inpatient Unit, 11301 N. 99th Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345. Published in the Arizona Republic from 12/21/2003 - 12/23/2003.
