LARSON, Wesley H.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, December 21, 2003 Wesley H. Larson, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 15, 2003 at his Scottsdale, Arizona residence following a lengthy illness. Born June 13, 1922 in Joliet, Illinois to Joseph Larson and Hazel Johnson Larson, he was the youngest of three children. He lived with a passionate love for his Lord, Jesus Christ, his family and those he met on his journey. Wes was a World War II veteran, having enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corp in June 1942 following graduation from Joliet Township High School. After graduating first in his class of 1250 from U.S.N. Air Training Center, Pensacola, Florida, he piloted transport planes in the Pacific Theater until July 1946. He married June Marie Rose Schrey on June 2, 1951 at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, June; sons, Eric Joseph Larson and Kurt Andrew Larson; daughters, Kathryn Marie Westlake and Janet Ann Burton; and their families, including nine beloved grandchildren. All family members are Arizona residents. Wesley studied at the University of Chicago and the American Institute of Banking. Following a 22-year banking career in Chicago, he moved his family to Paradise Valley, Arizona in 1970. The Rolameck Company was established by him in 1970 and Larson Financial Services, Inc. in 1989. Flying and fly-fishing remained his life-long interests. He is preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, Howard Eric Larson; and his only sister, Beatrice Anna Taylor. A Memorial Celebration will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3641 N. 56th St., Phoenix, AZ 85018 on Saturday, December 27, 2003, at 2:00 P.M. with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests con-tributions to the church or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
