Mancini, Elsie May
Elsie May Mancini, Age 89, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on October 26, 2003. Born on November 12, 1913, in Chebanse, Illinois, Elsie Wihelmine Lillian Brueggert was the fourth child of 11 born to Alvina Meyer and Ralph Brueggert. Elsie grew up in Kankakee, Illinois, and relocated to Chicago Heights, Illinois as a young woman. On September 17, 1931, in Crown Point, Illinois, she married Frank Peter Mancini of Chicago Heights, Illinois, who preceded her in death on October 29, 1982, after 51 years of marriage. They had one daughter, Jacqueline Alvina Mancini, who preceded them in death on May 27, 1935, and two sons, Dominic Mancini and Frank Mancini both of Tempe, Arizona. Elsie attended business college in Chicago then moved to Arizona in the mid-1940s where she resided in Phoenix for about 60 years. Elsie proudly served the citizens of Arizona through her work at the Department of Revenue for over 35 years, where she made many dear friends. Over the years, Elsie was involved in politics, charity events and the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her two sons, she leaves her two daughter-in-laws, Dominic's wife Catherine (FitzSimons) Mancini and Frank's wife Gladista (Moritz) Mancini both of Tempe, Arizona. Elsie was blessed to have a large and loving family to include her grandson Frank Mancini of Phoenix, Arizona, granddaughter, Jacqueline Mancini of Arizona, stepgrandson Peter Delmore of Los Angeles, California, stepgrandson Lance Delmore and his wife Stacey Delmore of Peoria, Arizona, brother Vernon Brueggert of Kankakee, Illinois, sister Marion Brueggert of Franklin Park, Illinois, brother Elmer Brueggert of Mesa, Arizona, brother Armand Brueggert of Golconda, Illinois, and sister Gwen Padwojski of Dunlap, Illinois. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Cemetery, 2003 North 48th Street in Phoenix, with a Celebration of Life following at 1 p.m. at The Beefeaters Restaurant, 300 West Camelback Road in Phoenix. A mass will be said in early 2004 in her memory at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Phoenix. In remembrance of her passion for animals, donations may be made in her honor to the Arizona Humane Society, 1521 West Dobbins Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85041 and the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah 84741. Arrangements were entrusted to Whitney & Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home.
