Leonora Wolf Martin, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died on Wednesday afternoon, December 17, 2003 at the age of 94.
She is survived by her husband, William Martin, of Scottsdale.
Leonora was the mother of three children, Philip of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Carolyn Marquardt of Webster, Wisconsin, and Catherine Schadt of Scottsdale and Durango, Colorado, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Leo, as she was known, had fond memories of growing up in Tacoma, Washington, where she started college at Puget Sound before transferring to Northwestern Univer-sity in Evanston, Illinois. She made lifetime friendships with members of her sorority, AOPi. One of those friends introduced her to Philip Wolf, whom she married in 1933.
Most of their life was spent in the Chicago area. She was active in Girl Scouts, PTA, United Way, the Republican Party, the school board in Wilmette, Illinois, as well as many other civic organizations. She also served the Wilmette Lutheran Church as Sunday School teacher, choir member and in women's circles. Through her sorority she became involved in Frontier Nursing Service in Kentucky.
After 28 years in Wilmette, Philip's health issues led them to Scottsdale where Leo continued her lifetime of service to others. She volunteered with the Scottsdale Healthcare Auxiliary for 26 years, including several terms as president. As a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, she served as Sunday School teacher, Church Council member and in many other outreach activities.
Nine years after Philip's death, Leo married William, a widower of one of her dearest sorority sisters at Northwestern University. They enjoyed 24 wonderful years of life together. Her husband and children plan a memorial service for her at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 17, the anniversary of her birthday, at 11 a.m.
The family has requested that memorial gifts be sent in her name to the Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Auxiliary.
Arrangements handle by Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary.
