Alex (Sandy) Rothstein, age 85, died December 18, 2003 in Portland, Oregon. He was born August 16, 1918 in New York City. A veteran of World War II serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater of War, Alex came to the Valley in 1953 from Minneapolis. Alex owned and operated Superior Land and Investment Company in Phoenix for many years. Survivors include sons Jim of Phoenix, and Tom (Marsha) of Los Angeles; daughter Nancy Judson of Portland, Oregon; brother Ben of Phoenix; and 4 grandsons Chad, Tyler, Luke, and Matthew. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 22nd at 10:30 a.m. in Beth El Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren Street in Phoenix. Memorials may be directed to the Arizona Council of Jewish War Veterans, 24641 N. 76th Place, Scottsdale, AZ 85255. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
