Ann Mae Spear died May 9, 2010, at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was born April 23, 1939, with cerebral palsy in Casey, Iowa. Despite her disability, Mrs. Spear led a wonderful and fulfilling life. She was the second oldest of four fabulous children, who always believed in her ability and not her disability.
As a young adult, she volunteered at a Phoenix hospital working as a candy striper, and received recognition from the local newspaper. Later, she ran a day care facility in Flagstaff for more than 20 years, touching the lives of many.
She enjoyed outdoor activities such as riding a three-wheeled bike, walking every day and camping with family and friends. She enjoyed riding in her daughter’s hot air balloon from time to time.
Mrs. Spear is survived by her husband of 48 years, Louis Spear; her three children, Linda, Barbara, and Mary; two brothers; four grandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Flagstaff Church of the Nazarene, 3505 E. Soliere Ave.
