The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Thursday, May 13, 2010 Hope Robinson Provence, 87, joined her beloved husband Lawrence (Larry) for all eternity. She passed away peacefully on April 3, 2010 of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. She was born on May 2, 1922 in Robinson, Pennsylvania to the late Irvin and Ethel Robinson. Hope graduated from Bolivar High School in 1940 and was married to Lawrence P. Provence on February 25, 1952. Hope worked in various jobs over the years including bookkeeper and as a metallurgist in a steel mill during WWII. She was also a sales clerk for Newberry’s and Sears in Norwalk, California. After retiring in 1985, she and Larry moved to Cornville, Arizona, where she became active in the National Campers and Hikers Association, also known as the Cornballs. She was also an active board member of the local chapter of the AARP. She and Larry enjoyed square dancing with the Cottonwood Roadrunners. They returned to California in 1997 and lived in Sun City until Larry passed away in 2004. Hope moved to Merrill Gardens in Whittier, California, in 2008 and lived there with her dog Tuey. Hope is survived by her two daughters: Kimberly Keyes and her husband David of Anaheim, California; Beverly Allen of La Mirada, California; four grandchildren: Jacob Allen, Shannon Allen, Ryan Keys, and Kevin Keys; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on April 24, 2010 at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Information provided by survivors.
