CLOSE, William Victor


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 01/14/2005 William Victor Close, 75, died Jan. 10, 2005 in Snowflake after a long illness with emphysema. He was born April 1, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey. He served in the Army and the Arizona Rangers, he also served as a SAV (Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteer). He made cabinets and toys (and toys that didn't sell he would donate to reservations). He was a citizen band radio operator, was involved with Emergency Food Box handouts for 10 years and helped manage Cedar Hills Bingo Club. He was president of Cedar Hills Property Owners Association for several years. He enjoyed the outdoors and rock hunting. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; children Scott Perrin, Dawn Stackpole, Sheala Lumly, William D. Close, Tom R. Close, Brian Close and Chair Perrin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Eskis, Mark Lumly and Katlyn Lumly. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Silver Creek Chapel Mortuary with Deacon Bill Rogers officiating. The family would like to express their appreciation and the support of hospice workers and friends that supported them in their times of need.
