William James (Jim) Myhowich, 60, died Sunday January 16, 2005 in Holbrook.
He was born at the Navajo Ordinance Depot Hospital in Belmont, near Flagstaff Sept. 26, 1944. In 1948 his family moved to Holbrook. Jim's father was well known as "Pete the Barber" and his mother Sarah was the telephone operator in Holbrook for many years. He attended Holbrook public schools and graduated from Holbrook High School, May 1962. After he graduated he joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. John R. Craig. He was honorably discharged January 1966.
Jim worked for the Arizona Highway Department for many years, and then went to work for Dave's Roofing until 1976, and then Jim operated his own roofing business in Holbrook up until his death. He enjoyed doing volunteer work and helping others. Jim loved children and he played Santa every year at Christmas and distributed candy and toys to kids in the community.
Jim is survived by his sister, Carol Policy and her children, Michael Rogers and Timothy Rogers both of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Todd Rogers of Phoenix, Michelle Henson of Holbrook and Marie Policy of Phoenix; two great-nephews, John Guin and Nicholas Rogers; two nieces, Cherie O'Brien and Jessica Guin; along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, and more great-great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Matt F. Policy.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
