The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, September 28, 2006 "Tom" Reeder, longtime Arizona cowboy, died Sept. 26, 2006, from a horse accident on the Double 0's Ranch in Seligman, Ariz. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29, 1 p.m. at the Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S, Cortez, Prescott. Interment will be in the Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, N.C., close to his beloved son, G/Sgt. Edward "Pete" Reeder, USMC. Tom was born Nov. 27, 1941, in El Reno, Okla. He attended school in Oklahoma and Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. On being discharged from the Army, he moved to Arizona and worked on many of the northern Arizona ranches, including the CO Bar at Flagstaff, the Diamond As and the Double 0's at Seligman. He was a founding member of the Arizona Cowboys Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Thomas Reeder Sr. of Fort Smith, Ark., and Oleta Reeder of Guthrie, Okla.; and his son, USMC G/Sgt. Edward "Pete" Reeder of Thomasville, N.C. Tom is survived by his daughter, Oleta Ruth Trimmer of Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren: Elizabeth and Trenton Trimmer of Albuquerque, and Sara Ruth and Jarrett –Reeder of Thomasville, N.C.; and Elizabeth Reeder of Mayer, Ariz. He leaves behind many lifelong friends, most especially Jim and Duree Shiewl, Ken and Sheryl James, and Scott and Linda Dieringer. The family would like to convey a special thank-you to not only all his longtime ranch friends but also to the Ruffner-Wakelin family and the helicopter rescue crew who responded to the accident. Tom loved the ranch life, his children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends.
