The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ May 11 1978, p. 6 ORAL O. HUNTER Funeral services for prominent Arizona farmer, Oral O. Hunter of Salome, were at Calvary Baptist Church this past Tuesday morning. The Rev. Bruce Caldwell of Phoenix officiated. Mr. Hunter died last Friday morning in the crash of his private plane west of Salome. He was 56 years old. A native of Eusaula, Okla., Mr. Hunter began farming in the Salome-Wenden area in 1955 when he moved to Salome from Arvin, Calif. Except for a period of military service during World War II, his entire life was devoted to farming. Mr. Hunter was active in local and state affairs. He formerly served on the Salome Elementary School Board. He was past commander of veterans of Foreign Wars post 3708 Salome. Mr. Hunter served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Cotton Growers” Association. At one time in his career he was a member of the Wickenburg Soil Conservation District and chairman of the Yuma County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee. Surviving are his wife, Leona, a daughter, Judy Lee Arbogast, a granddaughter, Misty Dawn, his mother, Mrs. Lessie hunter of Bakersfield, Calif., and six brothers, all out of state.
