The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ July 7, 1978, p. 4 HAZEL IRENE HAYS Hazel Irene Hays, who with her late husband Roy, owned Hays Ranch in Peeples Valley, died this past Thursday at Yavapai Community Hospital in Prescott. Mrs. Hays, 86, the mother of Rep. John Hays, R-Yarnell, was a resident of Peeples Valley since 1915. Services for her were on Monday at Ruffner Funeral Home, Prescott. The ranch was site of the annual Arizona Cattle Growers Assn. Barbecue and Calf Sale since the 1930s. In addition to her son, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William Bittner of Congress and Mrs. Thomas Rigden of Kirkland; a brother, two sisters; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
