BURGER, Robert (Bob) Paul


The Arizona Republic 5/19/2010 Burger, Robert (Bob) Paul 80, of Sun City West, AZ passed away on May 12, 2010. Bob was born in Toledo, Ohio on December 3, 1929 to Frederick and Rose Burger. Bob died peacefully on May 12, 2010 with his wife, Bev and children by his side at Hospice of Arizona Care Center after an extended illness with cancer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doreen. There were six children from this union: Karen, Robert (deceased), Faith, Joy (deceased), Andrew, and Patricia, 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. Bob retired from the USAF as Tech Sergeant after 20 years and was a Korean War Veteran. After retiring from the USAF he became a top salesman in England and later moved to Arizona where he worked in Juvenile Corrections. He earned two master's degrees, in counseling and in education. Bob was always compassionate to everyone he met. He volunteered at the Senior Adult Center in El Mirage delivering Meals On Wheels. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was ordained a High Priest and served in many other capacities. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the missionary fund of the El Mirage Ward, Bishop Terry Russell, 11207 N. 127th Avenue, El Mirage, AZ 85335. A viewing will be held at West Resthaven Funeral Home located at 6450 W. Northern in Glendale on Thursday, May 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the El Mirage LDS Chapel, 15005 N. Dysart, El Mirage, AZ, on Friday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
