WILLIAMSON, SR., James Silas

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, Sept. 22, 2006 James S. Williamson, Sr., died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, in Prescott. He was the son of Clyde S. Williamson and Hazel (Malcom) Williamson: Jim gave his parents a wonderful Christmas present on Dec. 25, 1920, the day he was born in Fullerton, California. In his early adult years he was involved with various endeavors, which included being a ranch hand, chef and courier to Hollywood stars. His experience with the Hollywood stars provided him with many wonderful stories to tell in his later years. In 1951 he met the love of his life and married Sue (whom he called Cricket) on Feb. 4, 1952. Upon his marriage to Sue he assumed the responsibility for her two daughters, whom he lovingly raised as his own. They quickly added five more siblings to their family Jim decided the trucking industry was the way to support such a large family and eventually became a safety supervisor for McLean Trucking. It was a job he truly enjoyed and was proud of. In 1983, Jim and Sue retired to Cordes Junction, Ariz., where he soon became involved with the Mayer Volunteer Fire Department. He later served two years as Fire Chief. Jim slowed down for the last few years due to surgery, but still enjoyed his yard work and visits with his neighbors, and the companionship of his beloved dog Penny. Jim is pre-deceased by his parents, brother Don, and son-in-law Won Rim. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sue; daughters Betsy Rim, Diana Wyllie (John), and Susan Bradford (Ron); sons Jim Jr. (Jo), Don (Pam), Robert (Donna); and Dennis. Jim is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Haider (Gene); and brother Robert Linker, as well as sister-in-law Julie Williamson. Jim leaves behind seven grandchildren: Heidi Berglund (Jeff), Jeremy McClymonds (Sheila), Sara Sue Williamson, Verle, Robbie, Jacob and James Williamson; and great-granddaughter Hannah Berglund. Jim was many things: cantankerous, entertaining, exasperating, big-hearted, hardworking, generous, funny and cynical. In short, a human being who was much loved by his family and will be missed but never forgotten. Please celebrate and remember Jim however you wish. His family gives a heartfelt thanks to everyone for their thoughtfulness during his illness. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home guided the family in making their final arrangements.
