Roberta Joanne Gaylor died peacefully on May 15, 2010, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born on Jan. 8, 1936, in Newcastle, Ind., to Robert and Martha (Cummins) Meeks.
Following her graduation from Newcastle High School, she moved to Indianapolis to pursue career opportunities. She eventually relocated to California where, in 1961, she met her future husband, Jerald Gaylor (they were married in 1964).
After working in key administrative positions for various corporations, she took several years off to raise her two children. Deciding to rejoin the workforce, she accepted a position of executive assistant with Boeing.
Known for her work ethic and diligence, she was a valued member of her administrative team. Eventually, having accomplished everything she wanted to professionally, she opted to take early retirement with pension. She used her newfound free time to indulge in her lifelong love of travel.
Throughout her 75 years of life, she was known for her personal warmth and kindness of heart. To those fortunate enough to have had the privilege of knowing her on a personal level, she will always be remembered for her great wit, generosity of spirit and unconditional support.
Her passing leaves a great void; she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Jerald; son Robert; and daughter Jeri (Johns).
A private cremation will be at the Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northern Arizona Alzheimer's Association, 225 Grove Avenue, Suite B, Prescott, Ariz. 86301.
Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted with the final arrangements.
