BEESLER, Jack M.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 02/01/2005 Longtime Alaska resident Jack M. Beesler, 81, died of pancreatic cancer Jan. 23, 2005, at his home in Vernon, with his loving daughter Ann and dearest friend Louise at his side. Mr. Beesler was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Orting, Washington. He attended elementary and secondary school on Bainbridge Island, and obtained his bachelor's degree from the Univ of Utah in Salt Lake City. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and was assigned to the 457th SEA Squadron at the end of his enlistment. Before leaving the service as a TSgt in 1945, he fought in the African and European campaigns and was awarded the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Service medal, American Theater Service medal, Victory medal and numerous other awards, medals and citations, including the Expert Rifle the world. He was preceded in death by his parents Violet E. (nee Johnston) and Edward Choate Beesler, his first wife Betty, and their son Jack Olaf "Ole" Beesler, and hunting partner Billy Bruner. Cremation and burial services will be private. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
