VAUGHAN, Clementine (Clem) Roseann

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 02/08/2005 Clementine Roseann Vaughan, 91, died Feb. 2, 2005 in Phoenix. She was born Oct. 25, 1913 in Otoe County, Nebraska, the youngest of eight children. Her parents, Anna and Melchior Kreifels, were farmers and owned a restaurant/tavern in the small town of Paul, Nebraska. Stories of barn dances, Halloween pranks, and small town life were frequently shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clem married Harley C. Vaughan Oct. 8, 1940 in Nebraska and after the birth of their first child, Linda Ann in August 1942, the family moved west to Tucson for Harley's military service in WWII. Clem left behind a large family with many nieces and nephews she remained in contact until her death. In December 1948, Clem and Harley had their second child, Milton John (Skip). Following the war, Clem and Harley owned and operated Vaughan's Garage in Tucson, and on retirement began to keep part-time residence in Globe, Tucson and Pinetop-Lakeside. They finally settled into the community of Pinetop-Lakeside. Clem loved people and was always happiest when her house was full of company. Her sense of humor and quick wit remained constant until death, along with a deep faith in God. She will be missed by so many, and everyone of us whose lives have been touched by hers have been richer for it. Clem was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harley; her parents; seven siblings; and grandson, Ronnie Vaughan. She is survived by daughter, Linda Ann Lee, son, Milton John (Skip) Vaughan, six grandchildren, Rita, Robert, Stephen, Julie, Michael, And Paul, along with ten great grandchildren. Clem's life was be honored with a Rosary service Monday, Feb. 7 with informal greetings at 6 p.m. and Rosary at 7 p.m., at the Owen's Mortuary, 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low, Arizona. A Catholic Mass will be Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 1915 S. Penrod Lane, Pinetop-Lakeside. The family would like to recognize Hospice of the Valley for their amazing support throughout Clem's final days.
