ALLEN, Afton (Connie)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 02/15/2005 Afton "Connie" Allen, 78, died at her home in Mesa Feb. 10, 2005. She was born June 14, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert and Johanna Williams. In 1946 she married Gerald Mecham Allen, and had a wonderful 56 years together. They lived in Salt Lake City for a short time before moving to Arizona. Connie and Gerald raised their six children in Gilbert. Together they enjoyed anything they could do with their family. To her family, Connie was known as "mother". Her hobbies included water skiing, tap dancing, and Sweet Georgia Brown. Connie worked for several years as an accountant at American Savings Life Insurance Company. She was very interested in the lives of her children and grandchildren and was a devoted wife and mother. Her family always came first. Mother is survived by her children, Bill (Cheri) Allen of Phoenix, Marie (Jim) Boblett of Show Low, Pearl (Grant) Turley Chino Valley, Gerald (Kathy) Allen of Kerns, Utah, Frihoff (Sheri) Allen of West Point, Utah, Petrea (Kreg) Kunz of Mesa; 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Mecham Allen, Sr. (Papa Daddio). Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4629 E. Guadalupe in Gilbert, with a visitation beginning at 9 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Mesa City Cemetery.
