Demetrulias, Mary Ann, passed away unexpectedly at age 86 on the evening of May 13, 2010. Mary was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and terrific friend. She was a very active, fun loving, woman of faith. Her kindness, sweetness, and class always brought out the best in everyone around her and inspired others to better themselves.
She is survived by her loving husband Chris, of 67 years, daughter Pat Leontsinis of St Louis (husband George), son George Demetrulias of Scottsdale (wife Janis), 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister Elizabeth Riethmann, and brother George Krekorian. She was the oldest of 3 children (known by her mother as #1) raised in E. St. Louis, Illinois by a Greek mother and Armenian father. Chris and Mary moved to Scottsdale from St. Louis in 1976. They were the proud owners of Cristo’s Restaurant in Windmill Plaza.
Mary will be terribly missed by all family and friends who were fortunate to have known her. Her involvement in the Greek Orthodox Church, Daughters of Penelope Chapter #13, St. Katherine’s Philoptochos, Choir, and the Good Samaritan Hospital, greatly increased the number of close relationships in her life while helping her community and family.
