The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/08/2005 Helen G. Maestas died March 1, 2005 at her home in Holbrook. She was born in McNary July 15, 1935 to Ted Sr. and Gabie (Montoya) Gallegos. From McNary her family moved to Snowflake and then on to Holbrook where they moved to build a home of their own. Helen was a Holbrook resident for 58 years, and raised her family there, worked for J.C. Penney for 10 years and retired from the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicle after 25 years of service. To her family she was known and loved as "Auntie Billie" and "Elena." Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Louis L. Maestas of Holbrook; daugthers, Patricia (Albert) Lopez of Whittier, California, Pam (Fred, Jr.) Hanson of Holbrook, Shea Maestas (Jimmy) Barela of Holbrook; sons, Dino (Lisa) Maestas and Marco Maestas both of Holbrook; mother, Gabie Gallegos of Holbrook; sister, Florence Trujillo of Holbrook; brothers, Ted Gallegos, Jr., Gilbert (Frances) Gallegos and Stanley (Alice) Gallegos all of Holbrook; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Lopez, Joseph Lopez, Cassandra Lopez, MichaelMaestas, Sonni Maestas, Brian Hanson, Dena Maestas, Justin Maestas, Brooke Maestas and Dylan Barela; 2 great grandchilren, Zachary Reyes and Daniel Montejo. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert G. Maestas; father, Ted Gallegos and sister, Sally Martinez. Holy Rosary will be recited will be at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 6 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, March 7 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Bob Mathieu celebrant. Interment will be at the Holbrook City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Greer's Mortuary of Winslow.
