PHILLIPS, William David


William David Phillips, 89, of Lake Havasu City passed away on May 10, 2010, at Prestige Assisted Care. He was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn. to George Walter and Beatrice Phillips. He married Lee J. Phillips on Aug. 3, 1940, at the courthouse in Los Angeles, Calif. They moved to Lake Havasu City in 1991 from Arcadia, Calif. William graduated from high school in Minnesota in June of 1938. He joined the United States Army on April 27, 1944, and fought in World War II. He was discharged in Feb. of 1946. His rank was PFC. William also worked in Arcadia, Calif., making garment bags for the airlines. William was a member of the Eagles Lodge. His interests included playing golf, and playing the trombone and piano for the Boy’s Christian League and the barbershop quartet. William is survived by his wife, Lee J. Phillips; sons, Jeffery W. Phillips, of Frazier Park, Calif. and Mike C. Phillips, of Tucson; grandchildren, Richard (caregiver), of Lake Havasu City, Kenny, of Los Angeles, Calif., David and Adam, of Tucson and great grandchildren, Breanna and Addison. Family services took place earlier this week. Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory. (Today's News-Herald, Published Tuesday, May 18, 2010 11:42 PM MST)
