DEMAIO, Arthur Alfonse


Today's News-Herald,Lake Havasu City, Arizona, May 18, 2010. Arthur Alfonse DeMaio, 78, passed away on May 10, 2010, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on Jan. 9, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to James and Mary DeMaio. Arthur was James and Mary DeMaio's only child. At the age of 12, the family moved to Southern California. After high school graduation, Arthur enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service, Arthur met and soon married Maree Lee Gaffney of Huntington Beach, Calif. They raised three sons (Vincent, Richard and Paul) in Anaheim, Calif. Arthur went to work at Carrat's menswear and became the district manager for the Southern California menswear chain. The family eventually moved back to Huntington Beach where they would raise their sons and own and operate several successful dress shops called Arthur John's. Arthur moved to Lake Havasu City in 1994 after the passing of Maree Lee to retire and spend time with his son Vincent's family where he was able to enjoy two of his favorite passions, hunting and fishing. Our dad will best be remembered for his sense of humor and the ability to make everyone laugh. Arthur is survived by his sons, Vincent (Lynda) and Paul; daughter in law, Dennielle; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ryan, and James and great grandchild, JentriAnne. Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, MareeLee and son, Richard. Memorial service will be held at sea with the family where Arthur will join Maree Lee, Richard and his beloved dogs, Cocoa, Mindy, Honey and Buddy in their final resting place.
