May 18, 2010.
Barbara Mercy Caserman, a long-time resident of Lake Havasu City, returned to our Lord on May 13, 2010 at Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Born in 1929 in Glendale, Calif., Barbara graduated from Hoover High School and took dance lessons in Hollywood, as well as performing in some stage productions, one being “Old Man River.” Her stage career expanded to performing in a few MGM and Warner Brothers productions as well. Barbara was Elizabeth Taylor’s stand-in for the movie “Giant,” and was a member of the Screen Actors Guild. Her love for music and dancing was later shared with her three daughters.
In 1975, Barbara married Harry Caserman Sr., and they began their life together in Lake Havasu City. Barbara worked at McCullough for several years and then retired so that she could dedicate more time to the VFW Club as editor of its paper, and later as president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Both responsibilities that she thoroughly enjoyed doing.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Harry Caserman Sr., of Lake Havasu City; her three daughters, Diana Toohey and husband, Bill, of Georgetown, Texas, Nancy Dyer and husband, Steve, of Leander, Texas, Vicki Kislan-Friese and husband, Bob, of Canton, Conn.; and her grand-daughter, Valerie Kirby; and grandson, Dustin Blair, both of Leander, Texas, and grand-daughter, Jennifer Bocian, of Manhattan, N.Y.; and Harry’s daughter, Yvonne Christenson and husband, Russ, of Anchorage, Alaska, all of whom brought great joy to her life.
A private family gathering will be held June 9 to celebrate Barbara’s life.
