The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, August 8, 2007 Minnie Lee Neel Jenkins, 92, died Tuesday, Aug., 7, 2007, in Prescott. Minnie Lee was born Aug. 12, 1914, on the old home place outside of Palestine, Texas, to John and Rutha Neel. She moved to Washington, DC., during World War II and worked as a stenographer at the Navy Department. There she met William Alfred Jenkins who also worked at the Navy Department and lived in the same boarding home across fro Georgetown University. They married on Aug. 3, 1946, and Minnie Lee became mother to Al’s two daughters, Virginia Jenkins Kaye and Judy Jenkins. Minnie Lee and Al had two children of their own, John and Ruth. When Al retired from the Department of Transportation, Military Service, they moved to Elkhart, Texas which is near Palestine. Several months after Al’s death, Minnie Lee moved in with Ruth and her husband, Bob Evans, to help raise her grandchildren, Jennifer and William. She lived with Bob and Ruth every since, until she entered a nursing home in mid-June of this year. Survivors include her children, Virginia Kaye, Judy Jenkins, John Jenkins and Ruth and Bob Evans; grandchildren, Jennifer Evans and Bill and Karolyn Evans; Laura and David Casey; and Lisa and Bruce Northey; and one great-grandchild, Jessica Northey. Graveside services will be in Land of Memories Cemetery in Palestine, under direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, 207 S. Magnolia St. Palestine, Texas.
