The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/11/2005 Tom Hanson died Friday, March 4, 2005 of complications from cancer, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa. Tom was born March 24, 1938 in Blair, Wisconsin, and grew up on the family dairy farm. He was many things in his life-counselor, fisherman, skier, hiker, traveler, but he will be remembered most for his love of people, family and friends, and how important they were to him. Tom did not give up on people. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, at Eau Claire with a degree in psychology and received his master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Tom lived in the White Mountains for 27 years. He worked as a school psychologist on the Apache and Navajo reservations and for the Tucson Unified School District. He also worked for many years as a ski instructor at Sunrise. Tom is survived by his mother, Dolores Hanson of Blair, Wisconsin; his wife Holly Hilton Hanson of Lakeside; daughter Keely Hanson of Scottsdale; brothers Bill (Delpha) of Hudson, Wisconsin, Joe (Cindy) and Mark of Blair, Wisconsin, Paul (Leticia) of Seattle; and his sister, Susan Jenkins (Don) of Whitehall, Wisconsin. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 12 in Blair, Wisconsin and Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at the Unity Church, 1233 Fawnbrook in Show Low.
