SHIRLAW,
Peter
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona - 03/15/2005
Peter Shirlaw, 66, died March 10, 2005 at his home in Lakeside.
Pete's life has been an adventure. Born in New York, he ran away from home at the age of 12 when someone showed him how to hitchhike. He cowboyed in Montana for many years, finally moving to Arizona and settling in Lakeside. Many remember Pete as the owner of Apache K-9, training dogs for protection and obedience.
Pete's journey included work with people in trouble who responded to the message, "You don't have to live this way any more". Because of Pete's willingness to share this message, many men and women are alive and successful today, understanding their job to know, love and serve God every day, for which hundreds of alcoholics are grateful. Pete taught us how to live, to put the needs of others ahead of our own, and the peace and joy that come from knowing love and forgiveness. He was a good man to ride the river with.
Pete is survived by his wife, Suzie and children Rebecca, Kelly and David.
No services are planned at this time.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
