HOBBS, Mayme Terry


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Wednesday, May 5,2010. Mayme Terry Hobbs, 85, passed away April 2, 2010 in Tucson. She was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Leo Goebel and Clara Julia Terry. Mayme graduated from Howe High School in Indianapolis, and married Howard W. Hobbs May 22, 1948, also in Indianapolis. She worked for the War Department in Washington, D.C., drawing maps during World War II and then for the state of Michigan retiring from there. Churches that Mayme belonged to include Lake Havasu City Church of the Nazarene, South Lansing Church of Christ, Lansing, Mich., and Montezuma Church of Christ, Montezuma, Iowa. She was a Cub Scout leader in Montezuma, Iowa, a member of Friends of the Library, Mohave County, and a Lake Havasu City Chamber of Commerce volunteer. Mayme’s interests were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, playing cards and board games, sewing, quilting, crocheting, cooking, drawing and singing. The Hobbs moved to Lake Havasu City in 1986 from Lansing, Mich., to be near their children and grandchildren. Her husband, Howard W. Hobbs, of Tucson, survives Mayme as well as her sons, Stephen C. Hobbs (Leila), Littleton, Colo., Philip A. Hobbs (Janet), Tucson, and James E. Hobbs (Jan), Lansing, Mich.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sutami, Folsom, Calif., Nikolas Hobbs, Tucson, Jonathan Hobbs, Alameda, Calif., Meredith Hobbs, Littleton, Colo., Meghan Hobbs, Littleton, Colo., Benjamin Hobbs, Samuel Hobbs, Meredith Hobbs, all of Lansing, Mich., Brian Gillette, Christopher Gillette, and Michael Gillette all of Newport, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Angelique Sutami, Clarissa Sutami, and Jeremiah Sutami all of Folsom, Calif. Mayme was predeceased by her parents, Leo G. and Clara J. Terry; brother, Leo Terry and daughter, Ruthann Gillette. Memorial services will be Saturday at Havasu City Church of the Nazarene, 2700 N.
