MCKINNEY,
David (Dave) Lynn
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona - 05/25/2010
David 'Dave' Lynn McKinney, 52, died May 7, 2010, after a long fight with liver disease surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 9, 1957, in Mesa to Lewis and Marjorie McKinney. Dave was welcomed home by his older brother Larry and later sister Leanne joined.
Dave graduated from Westwood High School in Mesa and worked for the City of Mesa for over 30 years before he retired as a gas inspector in 2007.
Dave's pursuit of happiness was evident in 2005 when he married his 'mountain girl' Theresa. Together, they migrated to the city to begin their life together, returning to the mountains so dearly loved after retirement. He loved the great outdoors and spent as much time as possible fishing and camping. He escorted the family on numerous camping trips and was determined to teach all of the grandkid's how to fish.
Dave was great fisherman and whether it was boating out on a lake, watching the children play or rigging fishing poles, he reached beyond with a zest for life.
Dave was an active member of the Sons of The American Legion and dedicated to the preservation of American traditions, forests and lakes. Dave's sacrifice, selflessness, and giving spirit were the cornerstone of his life. He was a loving and wonderful husband. Dave touched all whom he knew and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Theresa (Taylor) McKinney of Overgaard; mother Marjorie (Ledbetter) McKinney; son James McKinney both of Mesa; children Chaz Taylor (Jennifer) of Fort Sills Okla., Faith Rice (Ryan), Melissa Bush (Tim), Anastasia Richardson (Mike) all of Overgaard and Vanessa Hale (Chad) of Youngtown; grandchildren Alex, Keaunna, Hunnter, Khaila, Khaidence, Ayden, Alisha, Brock, Caitlin and Brook. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Penny); sister Leanne (Bryant), uncles, aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Davis McKinney. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Family and friends are encouraged to visit the following link to share condolences and remembrances.
