Laura Palmer, age 80, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at the Carriage House in Snowflake.
She was born and raised in Tucson where she attended elementary and high school. She then attended Beauty School and operated Laura's Beauty Salon for 20 years. Laura married Belton Palmer of Taylor May 26, 1944 in the Mesa Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They lived in Tucson, Winslow, Flagstaff, and then moved to Show Low in 1954. In 1977 they moved to Bullhead City and lived there for 13 years, returning to Show Low in 1990.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in the Relief Society, Primary and Young Women's Organizations. Most of her callings involved music, which she dearly loved. She served a church mission with her husband in Africa from 1988-1990. After their return home they worked in the Mesa Temple for several years. Laura loved art and enjoyed painting.
Laura is survived by her five daughters, Lorna (Douglas) Rhoton of Bullhead City, Darlene (Jesse) Hitchcock of Show Low, Laureen (Cris) Bryce of Pima, Pamela Edwards of Bullhead City, Renee (William) Hughes of Litchfield Park; two sons, Albert (Doris) Palmer of Peoria, Stanley (Kris) Palmer of Glendale; one brother, Bill Hardy of Tucson; 21 Grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Belton Palmer Dec. 31, 1993, and three grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Show Low Third Ward for the Humanitarian Tsunami Relief Fund, in care of Bishop Kenneth Van Winkle, Show Low Third Ward P.O. Box 1840, Show Low, AZ 85902
