MICHELS, Robert William


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 03/25/2005 Robert William Michels, 76, died Monday, March 21, 2005 at the RTA Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Lakeside. He was born Dec. 31, 1928 in Great Falls, Montana. As a child his family moved to Long Beach, California and on to Pomona where Robert attended school. After school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served his country as one of the first troops to fight in the Korean War. Upon returning to civilian life, Robert married Delores Guyman and began working for Pomona Tile Company where he advanced to Head Foreman. They had one son, Kerri. In his free time Robert loved fishing and spent many days fishing for Rainbow Trout. He also liked sports and was an avid Diamond Backs fan. Robert was a kind, decent, good, polite and courteous man. In the later years, Robert and Delores moved to the White Mountains where he drove truck for various lumber companies. Robert is survived by his sister, Kathleen Eaton of Linden, and niece Erin Eaton of Eugene, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores and son, Kerri. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low. Interment will be in the Pomona Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to RTA Hospice. The family of Robert thanks the RTA Hospice staff for their kindness and care. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
