TOTH, Lawrence, Sr.


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Published Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Lawrence Toth Sr. passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the age of 84. Lawrence, or Larry as he was known to his family and friends, was born on June 5, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., to Peter and Maria (Manita) Tath, who immigrated to the United States in 1910 from Romania. Larry and his family moved to Lake Havasu City from Detroit in 1972. He worked for the Lake Havasu School District as a custodian, retiring in 1982, due to his failing eyesight. Larry was a member of the local Ham Radio Club, Lake Havasu Historical Society and one of the charter members of Havasu Treasure Club that was started in 1974. He was also a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and the Democratic Association of Lake Havasu and was well known for his calling radio station talk shows and giving his opinions. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Ophelia; children, Lawrence Toth Jr. and his wife Lynn; Carol Lee McGuire and her husband Kevin; Mary Jane Adams and her husband Ronald; Julie Marie Mackey and her husband George and Shirley Ann Kaleno step-sons, Gregory S. Somerville, Jeffrey Somerville and his wife Brigetta and Timothy Somerville grandsons, Ronald Adams Jr. and his wife Deborah, Michael Adams and his wife Jill, James Toth, Corey Mackey and his wife Christi, Douglas Toth, Patrick Toth and wife Kimberly six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Grace Toth; sisters, Mary Kuschel and Julia Stimac; brothers, Peter and Charlie Toth and granddaughter, Lori Grace Toth. A memorial service will be held at Community Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 9 a.m. Words of wisdom and inspiration will be expressed by Rev. David Bybee. A private family interment will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church.
