William Young (Bill) Gunnell passed away May 24, 2010 in Lake Havasu City following surgery. Bill was born in Logan, Utah, April 20, 1936. He was the son of Bernice and Howard Johnson.
Bill was raised in Benson, Utah, and graduated from North Cache High School after which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed on the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Wasp. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he moved to California where he owned several wholesale lumber companies. After many years of traveling back and forth from California to Lake Havasu City to be with his family, Bill retired in 2007.
Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilynn (Jensen) Gunnell; son, Marty Gunnell (LueAnn), of La Habra, Calif.; and grandchildren, Christopher Gunnell, Jen Mickelson (Scott), Jessica Gunnell, and Kirsten Gunnell; son, Steven Gunnell (Judy), of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Tyler Gunnell (Clarrissa), Jamie Gunnell, and great-grandson, Dylan Tyler Gunnell; daughter, Wendi Hayden (Dan), of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Clayton Hayden, Dallon Hayden and M'Lyn Hayden; son, Gary Gunnell (Hiroe), of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Leah Gunnell, James Gunnell and Noah Gunnell; son, William (Billy) Gunnell; and mother-in-law, Betty Jensen.
A viewing will be at the LDS Church, 504 N. Acoma, Lake Havasu City on Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. Bill will be buried in the family plot in Logan cemetery.
