The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Thursday, May 27, 2010 Jo Ann Stueve 1936 - 2010 Jo Ann Stueve passed away on May 2, 2010, following a lengthy illness. Her loving husband, Raymond, was by her side. Jo Ann was born on July 19, 1936, in Woodbury County, Sioux City, Iowa to the late Dale M. and Josephine M. Ard. From a young age, Jo Ann demonstrated a vivacious personality, and singular sense of style. Her sense of humor, and outgoing attitude often made her the belle of the ball. With a sense of adventure, Jo Ann made the move from Sioux City, Iowa, to San Diego, California, where she met Raymond V. Stueve, the love of her life. They were married on June 20, 1964, in San Diego, California. Jo Ann was a loyal and loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. Over 30 years ago, Jo Ann left a promising career with New York Life Insurance Company to accompany Ray to Sedona, Arizona to establish a family operated commercial and residential painting business. Through all the ups and downs of the intervening years, Jo Ann remained a dedicated partner and motivating force in their personal and professional lives. Until her final illness, Jo Ann continued as an active presence within the community; the friendships she made were life long. She made a lasting impression on all who knew her and will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love. Jo Ann is survived by her husband, Raymond V. Stueve; a sister, Martha C. Mackey (Ronald) of Glendale, Arizona; a sister, Lucille M. VanValkingburg (Harland) of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother, Dennis Ard (Carol) of Sioux City, Iowa; a brother, David M. Ard (Darlene) of Port Charlotte, Florida and a brother, F. Michael Ard (Mary Jo) of Tucson, Arizona. She is further survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Timothy D. Ard. Information provided by survivors.
