Sterling M. Davis, 77, of Laughlin, Nev., went to his heavenly home March 25, 2010. He was born to the late Jim and Ethel Davis on Jan. 24, 1933, in Wewoka, Okla. Sterling graduated from Excelsior High School in 1951 along with his sweetheart, soul mate, and fiancée Janet Davis.
Sterling played AA ball for the Pittsburgh Pirates farm league before starting his life-long career as a general contractor, building many homes and businesses in the tri-state area.
Sterling was a prolific outdoorsman spending many a day fishing, hunting, and boating with friends and family on and around his beloved Colorado River. He loved working on and riding dirt bikes and promoted many a desert race.
Sterling is survived by his loving wife, Janet Davis; daughter, Deb Cameron; son, Dan Davis; sister, Naomi Gilbertson; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at 2281 Kevin Circle in Laughlin, Nev.
A second funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 13633 183rd St., Cerritos, Calif. 90703. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 4826 S. Workman Mill Road, Whittier, Calif.
Flowers delivered to Kevin Circle will be transported to Los Angeles for the second service and interment.
