Lawrence “Larry” Bates was born in rural Wisconsin. Larry served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He taught school in Medford, Wis., for nine years, leaving to go into the mink feed business. Larry wintered in Lake Havasu City for more than 25 years. He attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen.

Services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake.
