VESTER, Eugene Carl (Gene), Jr.


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, August 4, 2007 Eugene (Gene) Carl Vester, Jr. passed away peacefully Aug. 1, 2007, at the age of 84. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Feb. 8, 1923, and resided in the western New York area until moving to Prescott in 2000. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Virginia; two sons, Joel (Lidiya) and Bruce (Janice), both of Richland, Wash.; and daughter Lorie of Prescott, Ariz. Gene was a WW II Navy Veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He retired from the Erie County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator and loved to tell the story of the "Blizzard of '77." He was quick with a joke or a good story and loved to "blow up his muscles" for small kids to be amazed at. A Celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center in Prescott Valley and 1 p.m. Monday, Agu. 6, 2007, at the VA Chapel, with all of Gene's favorite foods, ice cream, cake and cookies.
