Larry Gene (Geno) Littler was born Oct. 21, 1946, and went to ride with the angels on Aug. 5, 2007. Geno fought a long and stubborn battle with emphysema.
Geno was born in Woodward, Okla., but moved to Arizona as an infant. He spent most of his life in the Mayer area.
Geno was a decorated Sergeant in the Marine Corp. and was a combat veteran of Vietnam. He truly believed, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine,” and he was very proud of his military service.
He was a very kind-hearted person who always seemed to have a positive attitude. Even in the last days of his illness, he kept his sense of humor and never complained about anything.
Geno led a very diverse and interesting life. He did everything from law enforcement to ranching to working in restaurants. He worked for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office and the Harper County Sheriffs Office in Oklahoma, where he even ran for sheriff. He worked for some local ranches and restaurants, and cut wood.
Geno eventually traded horses for motorcycles. He thoroughly enjoyed being on his Harley and the freedom he felt when riding it. For him, it was never about the destination, just enjoying the ride getting there. And he certainly enjoyed every ride.
Geno had many friends. Some he’d known most of his life, some not quite so long, but he treasured them all.
His father, L.G. Littler, preceded Geno in death.
He is survived by his mother, Letha Tanner, of Iowa, and two daughters, Stacie Evans (Dave) of Mayer and Tracie Norris of Red Wood City, Calif.
Geno had two brothers, Kevin Larremore of Mayer and Gene "Herky" Baker (Tracey) of Paulden. He also had five sisters, Jennifer Baker of Chino Valley, Roxanne Hull (Bruce) of Chino Valley, Sandra Stone of Iowa, Cindy Carrell (Bruce) of Montana and Sue Lougee of Oklahoma. Geno had two grandchildren, Bradley and Alexandra Norris, and eight nephews and two nieces. He had many special people in his life, including Greg Feltman, Nettie Birkemeyer, Anna Houston, Louis Feltman, Ed and Linda Branson and June Bills.
Geno will always be remembered for his toughness, sense of humor and most all his kind heart. He was a hero to all of us.
A military internment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at
the National Cemetery in Prescott.
