Lynn K. "Curly" Stratton, 89, died April 30, 2005 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside.
Curly was born and raised in Snowflake where he attended elementary and high school. He then started working in construction and in the logging woods operating heavy equipment. In 1962 he went to work at the Paper Mill in Snowflake. He worked there until he retired in 1976. Curly loved the out of doors and especially loved going camping in the mountains with his family. He also enjoyed horse back riding and went on many trail rides and had been a wrangler with the Desert Cabelleros for many years.
He loved rodeoing and was a team roper for many years. He was a regular attendee at the National Finals Rodeo since 1963 and was there every year until 2003 when his health began to fail. He will be remembered by many for his quick sense of humor and colorful vocabulary. Curly was a friend to everyone he met. He was a member of the Snowflake First Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Curly is survived by his wife, Fay Stratton of Snowflake; three sons, Dan (Iris) Stratton, Steve (Verlyn) Stratton and Monty (Joy) Harris all of Snowflake; five daughters, Barbara (Larry) Whipple of Show Low, Shirley (Hartley) Webb of Queen Creek, Kathryn "Kay" (Dale) Johnson of Holbrook, Marian (Keith) DeWitt of Holbrook and Marjorie (Dennis) Austin of Scottsdale; one brother Lorum E. (Beulah) Stratton of Snowflake; 27 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Snowflake Main Street Chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a visitation one hour prior to services at the church and from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 6 at Owens Mortuary in Snowflake.
